Venmo Groups

A launch campaign for a new Venmo feature.

Group dynamics are tricky. Throw money into the mix, and upgrade them to super tricky. Who bought what, owes what, means what, what’s what? But these convos don’t have to be had anymore. Venmo Groups allows us to settle shared expenses in one place.

To make this look as easy as it sounds we developed a campaign that can use a flexible pool of assets and UI elements to tell endless stories of friends getting together and seamlessly settling up. We centered the campaign on 3 roommates and their interconnected friend group to build an asset library that could flex beyond the inital launch. The accompanying toolkit ensures future campaigns keep their story straight.

While the campaign itself was exciting to work on, this gave me a chance to guide a team that primarily worked with existing assets through the full production process.

Soft Launch

The campaign soft launched in the new year with their existing asset library. We then expanded on that library with a 3 day shoot featuring interconnected characters so the assets can live beyond well our initial campaign.
